Living with Purpose and Passion while Fulfilling Your Life Mission

By Katana Abbott

How many of us go through life on what I call, “on robot”, or like the commercials use to say, “gotta make the donuts”.  I remember actually saying this myself before I found my Purpose and Passion in life. There was a point in my life at around 45 years old, when I realized that there was something missing in my life.  It was almost like an itch…something I could not put my finger on…yet I knew it was there.  There was this nagging feeling or calling that was inviting me to do or be something different and it scared the hell out of me. I actually kept shoving it down because my life was actually on auto pilot and it was easy.  I was at the top of my game — in the top 1% of money managers in my company — attending fabulous conferences and making lots of money.

Then one day, things began to happen to me physically.  My knees gave out, and ultimately, I ended up taking one full year off work to think things through…I know this is something that most folks could never do…I am so grateful for that opportunity because it gave me the time to figure out what I really wanted to be doing with my life. And then I found it! It is helping others experience their own Awakening so they too can live with more purpose, passion and prosperity.

Here is a simple exercise that you can do yourself.   Imagine that you just won the lottery and money was no longer an issue in your life.  What would you be doing with your time?  What would change in your life?  Would you still be doing the work you are doing?  Would you still be living where you are living today? Would you still be in the relationship you are today? Now look at your answers and ask yourself why or why not to each of these questions.

If your Perfect Life is totally different than how you are living today, what is one thing you can do today to bring more purpose, passion and prosperity into your life today:

  • Take up an old hobby like oil painting
  • Join a health club or yoga class
  • Call or visit an old friend you almost forgot about
  •  Start a blog to get your story and ideas out to the world
  • Volunteer or start your own foundation (I did this…it’s not that hard…just ask me)
  • Hire a coach, find a mentor, take a class

Just take that first step Yes, taking that first step can be so powerful.

Clarity the Key to Creating Your Perfect Life

By Katana Abbott

Clarity truly is the key to creating your perfect life, unfortunately most people don’t have clarity of what their perfect life is.  It’s important to create your vision.  I want you to take a moment to sit down in a quite place, and visualize your perfect life three years from now.  What would it look like?

Try this exercise -

Imagine it’s three years form now, and you are getting ready in the morning, looking in the mirror and you have a smile on your face — a big grin.  What’s happening in your life today?   Where are you going? What are you going to where?  Who are you meeting?  Where are you living and with whom?

Take a moment to write down what has to happen between now and three years to make these things happen.  You don’t need to know how to do these things, just write down what would need to happen or change.  Write these in present tense and under the three categories below.

Personal – My life is joyful, abundance and effortless, I go to yoga three times a week, and love riding my bike through the wet lands each morning.  I enjoy traveling, speaking and writing – my new book is a success! I love my home on the lake – my life is a vacation every day.

Relationships - My daughters are thriving and creating their own joyful lives now. I love going to weekly concerts with my husband.  We are closer than ever!  I make time to enjoy deep relationships with close friends by planning dates in advance.

Money and Work - My business is running without me.  My virtual team takes care of all the details! I am focused on doing what I love 80% of the time, and it’s paying off because my business is thriving.   We are on track with our financial goals and update our financial plan quarterly.

Focus On What You Want – Not What You Don’t Want

Now print out your affirmations, and put them where you can read them daily.  The next step will be taking action on the goals and working through any challenges, but the first secret is to get really, really clear about what you want and why you want it.  Once you do, the magic will begin and you will literally begin to attract what you want into your life.

If you are foggy about what you want or you only focus on what you don’t want from a “fear” prospective, the Universe will bring you more of that…more fog and fear.

You can make a list, create a vision board, but make sure you create something visual and focus on it every day with emotion and intention.  You can also share your goals and dreams with others.  This may create some fear – but begin to move in the direction of what you want and watch the magic begin.

Leveraging Your Time, Energy and Fun!

By Katana Abbott

Since many of us may be looking for ways to freshen up our lives and our habits, I would like to give you a sneak preview of an exercise that I created called “The Perfect Life Filter™”. The purpose of this exercise is to help us take a look at the different areas of our lives that are important to us (family, fitness, finance, fun and freedom) and to make sure that we are not out of balance in any one area.

For example, I can get focused on work (because my work is one of my passions) and then ignore my heath and my family…even working through an entire weekend. This is certainly not the way to develop deep and meaningful relationships with my family and friends and in the long run…it ends up not being that much fun either!

Think about your life and what’s important to you. How can you combine your goals to leverage your time and energy? Here are some examples of how to do this for yourself. Please share your results with us on this blog. Thank you!

Exercise:

Take a moment now and list your goals for each of the following areas:

• Family Goals: (Deepen Relationships)
• Fitness Goals: (Self Care – Energy)
• Finance Goals: (Security – Abundance)
• Fun Goals: (Joy – Experiences)
• Freedom Goals: (Self Expression)

Now think of ways you can combine more that one goal to leverage your time…simple! For example:

• Family & Fun: Vacation
• Fitness & Fun: Go to the park with family
• Family & Freedom: Dancing: Trance Dance @ Karma Yoga
• Finances & Freedom: Personal Development – Creating Products
• Freedom & Fun: Travel

My Perfect Week for My Perfect LIfe

By Katana Abbott

Summers are so short here in Michigan and this year I am determined to change my lifestyle so I can really enjoy more time with my family and friends. What about you?

Yesterday, I made the announcement to my family that I am committed to changing my lifestyle so I only work four days a week and only six hours per day. I also am committed to taking one week per month off for personal development or rejuvenation  That’s only 72 hours a month to run my business …do you think I can do it?  I believe it will work because I will be much more focused on how I spend my time. And best of all, I will be living with joy and enjoying life, friends and family. Isn’t that what’s it’s all about?

What if there was no such thing as the 40 hour 9-5 work week? How would you schedule your life…what if you changed your paradigm of what is normal?  Could you become more effective…eliminate or delegate things that you shouldn’t be doing anyway…things that drain your energy and don’t generate revenue?

I have always talked about Creating Your Perfect Life Week…but have never taken it to this level. Today I am committed to keeping this promise to myself, you and my family. This is My Perfect Week for My Perfect Life:

  • 8-11 AM daily: Personal time for exercise, reading & meditation

  • 11 am – 5 pm Monday – Thursday: Focus and Prep time for my business

  • All day Friday through Sunday as well as my evenings:  Fun and Rejuvenation with my family and friends…hobbies, adventure and connecting!

Remember the Law of Attractions says, “We get what we focus on…so Ask for What You Want & Then Take Action by Walking Through Your Fear.”
