Greetings!
Tell Us About Your Father...
meditate
I lost my father in 1964 during the Vietnam war...I was only six, so Father's Day always felt a little strange to me while growing up.  Many years later, my mom remarried and I finally had another father.  He was a wonderful human being and we were blessed to have him join our family.  I was married by then with two daughters.  My parents were married in our home because the living area had large open spaces and balconies off both sides.  It was Christmas; we had a huge two story tree decorated with white bows and gold bulbs, live violins and singing.  My mother even wore my wedding dress (she looked amazing!)

Then last fall my step father of 15 years, passed away of lung cancer at 87.  He came into my mother's life just at the perfect time and their life was a true "love story". She was 55 and he was 74 when they met. Papa Dale, as the grand-kids called him, will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.  "Thank you Dad for being part of our lives...we miss you!"

Father's Day has become a day to not only honor "your father", but all men who act as a father figure, including stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and mentors. Be sure to remember the "father" in your life on the third Sunday of this month.  We would love to hear your stories!  Scroll down to learn how to share your story with the world.

meditate Letter #22
Dear Family and Friends,

It's been a wonderful few weeks since I last wrote to you.  My sisters came, saw and conquered the hearts of the Basotho.  I'm feeling perfectly well with no lingering bad effects of the nasty pills and our various Village projects are coming along nicely.

Patty and Pam were a huge hit in the Village.  Not only did they arrive with suitcases full of gifts for the villagers and me-- but they immediately put their talents to work.  We visited the primary school and after the children sang and danced for us they sang for them.  Pam, a talented ESL teacher, held an impromptu language class for a group of little ones in front of my hut and from that point on was surrounded by adoring children.

Patty, our very own Boswell, spent much time chronicling what was going on in a journal.  Patty is both a writer and an artist and the illustrations she drew in her journal fascinated our many visitors.  She'd also brought a Polaroid camera -

Make it a Perfect Day!
